There are rumors of magic in the Creede Valley. Spirits that welcome some, spurn others. For those it welcomes, it gets under your skin, burrows its way into your mind like the miners of old, and doesn’t let your heart go. For the spurned? They leave pretty quick wondering how/why/can people even live 4 hours from a Target. Since moving here though, I’ve felt welcomed in by the spirits that make the “last great place” of Creede, Colorado special. This former raucous mining town turned quiet mountain town has become my adopted second home. While I live close, visit, and stay often I always want to spend more time along the Rio Grande, under those dramatic canyons above town, and on the sunny side of the San Juan Mountains!
