I spotted these (what I presume to be) bobcat tracks passing those two young pines just as the morning sun hit them making the scene look like something from the sand dunes. I loved the scene instantly, and knew I had to come back when there wouldn’t be shadows and the snow would look more like snow. So, for the first time that afternoon, I headed back up Slumgullion hoping I didn’t see whatever was making these tracks and they hadn’t been back to ruin the scene with more tracks. Thankfully though, the tracks were just as I had left them, and as soon as the sun went behind the mountains, I took the photo I had envisioned hours earlier.
