I watched from 13 miles across the valley as the first light of an early summer day ignited the distinct, sawtooth summits of the Uncompahgre, Mattherhorn and Wetterhorn Peaks. Even from this distance these imposing peaks dominate the San Juan Skyline and will always remain my favorite view.
