In the stick season and winter of 2025, I decided to try something new. I’ve been taking photos of town in black and white, because it just feels right for this time of year and the ghost town vibe I love! Also I’ve been accused of occasionally thinking in black and white so this just seemed natural to me.
It started as me wanting to get familiar with the town's history, but I ended up getting distracted by the locals. A surprise to no one.
Anyway here’s the first series of the Town Deer of Lake City!
I don’t feed or bait them in any way. My goal is just to watch them be deer and never influence their behaviors or stress them in any way. Please do the same, and respect their wildness if you see these modern day hobos around town. They don't need our help to make it here. They did it for thousands of years before we came.
