There’s my Lake City, Wildlife, and a Creede one of course, but If you’ve ever wanted a Lake City calendar, but didn’t want to look at my photos, this is your year! In addition to my 2027 calendars, I also made a Lake City historical calendar!

It features 12 historic photos that (I don’t think) have been printed since they were originally taken, the most recent being taken in the 1940s, fifty plus years before I was born! It shares random bits of local history with photos of town and its residents from the mining boomtown days, to the desolate near ghost town years in the 1920s. I recommend taking the calendar around to the different locations featured to see the changes, because there have been a lot, and probably not in ways you’d expect either!

100% of the proceeds will go to the Hinsdale County Historical Society, and their mission to preserve and share the history of this area. It’ll be sold at the Hinsdale County Museum, 130 Silver Street. Along with my gallery, at 219 Silver St, and several other places throughout Lake City.

Also their building, The Finley Block, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, along with several others in town, like the St Rose of Lima, the Presbyterian Church, and 219 Silver Street (my gallery!) to name a few. Come visit them to celebrate!

The San Juan Solstice was this Saturday here in Lake City! Fifty miles of running and 12k feet of elevation gain in the mountains around town. The course takes the runners up and over the mountains, then once more, then another time for more fun before the downhill stretch back into town. I hitched a ride up to the Divide Aid Station where spent the day hiking along the Colorado Trail to meet the runners as they reached mile 28 or so. This is the section of trail that parallels the mountains above Lake San Cristobal and is just under/over 13,000 feet in elevation. Here is a link to a gallery of the photos I took!

Did you run the race? If so you probably will find yourself in here! This is every photo I took that day. There’s about 1500.

I have a new website!

Some of you had the misfortune of visiting my old website. Well, I’m happy to report I spent a large portion of the winter doing a wholesale renovation. It’s done now* and I’m really happy with how is everything is looking!

Not only does it look completely different and have a useable interface and search, the thing I’m most happy with is adding dozens and dozens of new photos. I got carried away on memory lane while selecting photos for the site. I’d say it’s about 50/50 on new photos, and photos I maybe posted years once but never printed. Of course, there’s also the whole black and white photography obsession I had over this winter!  The photo above, was one of the new ones.

But let’s not skip over the search! You want a photo of Baldy Cinco?  Type it in and there it is! If not maybe send an email and tell me what I’m missing out on?

I persevered the original captions I wrote years ago, so I recommend you grab a coffee and/or drink, and spend some time virtually visiting the San Juan Mountains and Yellowstone Ecosystem!

Prints are available, with the exciting change being I’m mostly switching to metal prints from canvas. You’ll see these in the gallery this year as well.
