I also made a Lake City Historical calendar!
It features 12 historic photos that (I don’t think) have been printed since they were originally taken, the most recent being taken in the 1940s, fifty plus years before I was born! It shares random bits of local history with photos of town and its residents from the mining boomtown days, to the desolate near ghost town years in the 1920s. I recommend taking the calendar around to the different locations featured to see the changes, because there have been a lot, and probably not in ways you’d expect either!
Profits will go to the Hinsdale County Historical Society, and their mission to preserve and share the history of this area. It’ll be sold at the Hinsdale County Museum, 130 Silver Street.
Also their building, The Finley Block, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, along with several others in town, like the St Rose of Lima, the Presbyterian Church, and 219 Silver Street (my gallery!) to name a few. Come visit them to celebrate!
