Great Grey Gaze
Yellowstone National Park
Pretty much all I wanted to photograph this summer was Great Grey Owls! So much so I drove past bears/moose at multiple times just to go wander through forests alone looking for them. They are incredibly elusive, mostly silent, and have the best camouflage making them near impossible to see. Despite that, I had 5 sightings, and saw 7 different owls this autumn! Each sighting was really owlsome and left me wanting to spend more time with them in their forest kingdoms! Mostly I got to see a bunch of nothing while searching, but I was rewarded one dawn in Yellowstone when this owl I was watching hunt flew over and landed just a few yards from me. The photos from that morning are the favorite of my trip.
