The photo is from a very special place in the San Juans. I shot sunrise here a few autumn morning, and watching the peaks light up in alpenglow while an elk bugled far off was my favorite moment behind a camera that year. This photo is from two hours after that that scene unfolded as I still sat glued to the spot just watching.
