Autumn Bells

I’ve lived in Colorado on and off since 1997, but somehow have never visited its most photographed and well known landscape. That changed a few days ago when a friend who happened to have a permit gave me the invite! We camped outside of Aspen, set a 5am alarm, where we then headed out to be greeted with this iconic scene and soon after the first frozen hands of the season! The water in the lake is a bit low so you can’t get a full reflection this year, but you’ve all seen that photo (a few hundred thousand times) so that doesn’t bother me too much. It was just nice to see the scene, watch the incredible alpenglow on the peaks just before sunrise, and not have to be so stressed about getting that perfect photo everyone else already has.
