This was the last photo I took that night on the way down from the summit of Handies Peak before the fading light made it impossible to get sharp handheld photos. It is also my favorite photo of the night. Just the realization that just over 12 months ago (376 days ago)
I took this same photo after I had barely made it up this mountain due to being in horrible shape/knee pain from Lyme disease, to now climbing this mountain on little more than a late afternoon whim made my night. Just the fact that I can get out there, explore, and be immersed in nature now without much pain or difficulty is incredible. Confidence isn’t exactly there yet, and sure, there’s a long way to go before I get to where I want to be or what I want to be doing in life, but it kind of feels good to recognize a victory.
